[FAQ] What is the Difference Between TYSS and TYVS?

2026.05.29 09:46:0

Taeyang 3C offers two types of thermal pads — TYSS and TYVS — tailored to meet the diverse environmental requirements and performance demands of our customers. Both products deliver excellent thermal conductivity, yet their optimal use cases differ depending on the specific application. In particular, TYVS is engineered for specialized environments by significantly reducing low molecular siloxane content.

What Sets TYSS and TYVS Apart?

TYSS is a general-purpose silicone-based thermal pad designed to provide reliable heat dissipation solutions across a wide range of industrial applications. TYVS, while sharing the same silicone base as TYSS, is distinctively formulated to reduce low molecular siloxane content to 100 ppm or below.

So why does it matter to reduce low molecular siloxane?

Low molecular siloxane is a naturally occurring component in silicone materials, characterized by cyclic structures ranging from D3 (3 monomer units) to D10 (10 monomer units). Due to its volatile nature, this compound can adsorb in trace amounts onto electrical contacts or sensitive sensors in electronic components. Over time, this can lead to contact failures or subtle interference with delicate electrical signals.

Therefore, when thermal pads are used in contact-sensitive electronics — such as semiconductors, sensors, or communication equipment — where precise signal transmission is critical, minimizing the impact of low molecular siloxane becomes extremely important.

How to Make the Right Choice?

Taeyang 3C’s TYSS already maintains low molecular siloxane levels below the industry average, making it a reliably stable choice for most general-purpose applications. However, for high-sensitivity electronics where even the slightest contact failure cannot be tolerated, or for products subject to specific regulatory requirements, TYVS is the wiser choice for the added assurance it provides.
Of course, due to the additional processing required to reduce low molecular siloxane, TYVS carries a higher production cost than TYSS. It is therefore important to make an informed decision by carefully weighing the intended application and the level of reliability required.
